In a world

A bystander

In a world we so desperately need to be loved, we love people who love themselves. We want the love that nobody has to give but everyone wants to receive. Love is coal in a stocking, a kite with no string, and a birthday cake and no candles. A happy birthday isn’t the same as without a wish.A beautiful concept of the “what could’ve been” or the “what should’ve been”. Love is an idea, same idea that sparks the little boy to pick on the girl or the idea that makes a woman fall in love with a purse, or the same kind of idea that the guy who just liked three photos on Instagram will be your soulmate. We fall in love with the idea of someone and have our expectations crushed by the reality of getting to know them. We all manipulate each other, it may sound harsh but it is true. We manipulate colleges into letting us in, we manipulate employers to hire us, we manipulate our friends by putting a show that we have our shit together. So why wouldn’t we manipulate “love”? The truth is we do. We all want someone to care about us and to do that, you need to be attentive to hearing what someone must say, you might even be doing it subconsciously. When was the last time you checked up on a friend? Mentally… think about it. Did you call them? Text them? If you think that saying “how have you been ?” as an answer… You just proved my point, asking someone “ how have you been?” is to talk about how little jimmy spilled his juice box on my computer last week and I had to buy a new one. Not if I have been in the worst state of mind and the computer doesn’t even mean anything to me anymore, because what matters?

In a world full of selfish people who hurt selfish people into being more selfish, We don’t know what we want. We tell people we are in “love” then fuck someone, half of us cheat and the other half get divorced. At least the dumb half who were wrapped up in the thought of love got divorced. The word love is intoxicating itself you say the three words and you can get anything you want. You tell 30 thousand fans you love them and you sell out your show, you tell an old man you love him and you get his will , If you tell a girl you love her and you have her wrapped around your little finger. Men use it all the time, sometimes even get wrapped up in the thought of love. They start buying gifts for the girl, meet the parents and boom his ex is in town say bye-bye to whatever you thought that was. I call it the love haze, some people say you wear red glasses, other people say you missed the stop sign. But I say It’s foggy then you keep driving and everything just clears up and you finally have reached your destination. Some destinations are better than others but you do reach it and depending on how good the place is you see if you stay or not. So a love haze if you will. Some people are on the road till it’s too late, they seem to lose their way. Sometimes they pull over and ask roadside assistance or a tow, some just pull over for gas, and some just let themselves get lost.

In a world where we want to help everyone around us, We forget we wanted a shoulder to lean on as well. We joke and overshare as a silent plea for help and we let the wrong people hear us. You’re asking someone who loves themselves but doesn’t know themselves, to love you…

to know you,

you don’t even know you

Do you “love” you?
